Repairs

  • Create vacuum in the system to hold the water (radiator-valve replacement)
  • Pipe-freezing equipment will freeze the supply within 2 min. and for 30-45 min
  • Electrical Resistance Reading method- should be used to check that a thermistor is working correctly

Central Heating Faults

  • Kettling of the Boiler - caused by insufficient water flow rate through the heat exchanger
  • Diverter Valve Function Fault - a boiler operates on hot water demand but not central heating

Problems that Can Water Cause

Corrosion
  • Hydrogen - the product of corrosion
  • Oxidization
    • Ferrous metals are affected by oxygen
    • Formes Red Rust
  • Electrolytic corrosion
    • occurs between 2 dissimilar metals
    • formes Black Magnetite
Lime scale
  • Fix a Scale Reducer if the hardness of the water is more than 200p/million
Microbiological fouling

Power flush

  • Pump outlets - preferred connection points
